Bride’s Guide : Pre-wedding Party

Once the happy couple have taken the decision to wed and set a date, the hard work really begins. It is a well-known fact that weddings really bring out the best in people who are well organised and able to delegate. Management professionals often have the smoothest running nuptials, thanks to their expertise in this area.

But don’t worry if management doesn’t come naturally, having the ability to compile lists and take the time to nail the details serve just as well when planning a dream wedding. From the wedding gown to the accessories and bridesmaids dresses, to the church flowers and the catering, everything needs attending to with greatest possible care; after all, it’s a very special day.

Get the dress right and everything else tends to fall into place without too much trouble. The style of gown is very much down to personal taste; something all brides have very strong feelings about. The range of high quality wedding gowns available today means there is something gorgeous to suit all physiques and tastes. Whether it’s a classic vintage style, a backless number or a dramatic diva look, designers such as Ian Stuart, Pronovias, Mark Lesley and Mori Lee are all safe bets when starting the search for that dream dress. With so many to choose from, decision making can be difficult, so it really helps to take a trusted friend or family member along to the wedding boutique for support and honest feedback.

Whilst you are there don’t forget to look at the accessories. Beautiful veils, head dresses, garlands, fascinators, tiaras and more can be sourced from renowned bridal designers such as Warren York, Richard Designs and Benjamin Adams.

Once the bride has decided on her dress she is free to concentrate on other matters. Having announced the wedding, lots of pre-wedding parties and social events leading up to the special day seem to emerge. Social occasions, ranging from engagement parties to bridesmaids luncheons and rehearsal dinners, all feature in the run up to the nuptials.

Increasingly, brides and their grooms are opting for pre-wedding parties close to the day of the wedding. This can be a fun way of getting to see all the long lost friends and relations that it may be hard to connect with in the blur of the actual wedding day.

Pre-wedding parties can take on many forms, some being large formal affairs hosted by the couple’s parents, others more intimate evenings with a casual, laid back, atmosphere. Couples choosing to host informal pre-wedding events should remember to reserve a suitable venue well in advance and make sure that details of the party are included in the invitation pack sent out to all the guests. Organising catering, wine glasses, entertainment and decorations should all be factored into the already busy wedding timetable. It sounds like a great deal of effort, but pre-wedding parties are usually great fun and do a good job of soothing any last minute nerves.

Getting married should only happen once, so it is important to get it exactly right. Finding the perfect dress, organising the social side and of course choosing the right partner, will ensure all the hard work is worth it. One final piece of advice, remember to enjoy the day.
